We caught up with Connor to learn more about his role, adventures, and what keeps him inspired in the ever-evolving world of tax technology.
Q: Tell us a bit about your journey to Innovate Tax.
After spending years travelling the world and making the most of life outside a 9–5, I decided to look into the world of indirect tax. I joined as an apprentice and completed my AAT accountancy qualification, I now use my experience to help clients implement efficient, scalable solutions.
Q: What exactly do you do at Innovate Tax?
As a Functional Consultant, I work closely with clients to design, configure, and deliver indirect tax solutions tailored to their business needs. It’s a mix of problem-solving, collaboration, and making sure our implementations not only work but add real value.
Q: What excites you about working in tax technology?
It’s fast-paced and constantly changing. Every client and project brings a new challenge, and I enjoy helping businesses future-proof their tax processes. Plus, there’s always something new to learn, it keeps things interesting!
Q: What do you enjoy outside of work?
Travel is still a big part of who I am. Whether it’s exploring a new country, hiking a mountain, or diving into a spontaneous adventure – I’m all in. I’ve ticked off quite a few places, but there’s always more on the list!
Q: Tell us a little bit about your time in the India office.
I spent time in our India office to help support its growth and development. Being on the ground gave me a great opportunity to connect with the team in person, understand their day-to-day challenges, and contribute to building a strong foundation as the office expands. It was a rewarding experience, both professionally and personally.
Q: You also took part in the Rickshaw Run across India – how did that come about?
That was one of the wildest and most unforgettable things I’ve done. Along with a teammate, I drove a rickshaw over 1,600 miles across India as part of a charity challenge. It was intense – breakdowns, detours, navigating chaotic roads but also an amazing way to experience the country. Best of all, we raised money for a cause close to our hearts. It definitely tested our resilience, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat!
Whether he’s rolling out tax solutions for global clients or rolling through the streets of India in a rickshaw, Connor brings energy, curiosity, and commitment to everything he does.
