International Women’s Day 2025: Taking Action & Empowering the Next Generation at Innovate Tax

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the brilliant women at Innovate Tax who are not only excelling in the traditionally male-dominated tax industry but are also paving the way for the next generation.

With this year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” we’re highlighting five incredible women who are driving change, leading with expertise, and inspiring others to break barriers.

Account Manager

Lizzie Widdicks

Lizzie is the go-to person for our global clients, ensuring they maximise their tax technology solutions and stay ahead of compliance changes.

“Working in tax means I get to solve real-world problems for businesses every day. As a woman, I love breaking stereotypes and showing that this industry is for everyone. It’s about expertise, not gender.”

Katie Summerville

Katie doesn’t just implement tax solutions – she helps design them, advises on pre-sales, and leads our traineeship program, mentoring the next generation of tax professionals.

“Tax and tax technology is always evolving, which keeps my job exciting! I love managing new entry professionals coming into the tax technology world and demonstrating that all genders can lead the way in this male dominated industry. We’re changing the game!”

Head of Tax Technology Practice

Operations and People Director

Donna Smith

With an MSc in HRM, specialising in Change Management, and experience of working in big global brands spanning diverse industries, including Virgin Atlantic, Specsavers, G4S and others, Donna works with our world class team and our clients across the globe to deliver and embed our award-winning solutions.

“Supporting a team in such a fast-paced and ever evolving industry is incredibly rewarding. Seeing more women take leadership roles in tax and tax technology is inspiring and we’re just getting started! I love being part of an inclusive company, where talent comes first, and gender isn’t a consideration”

Laura Batten

Laura is a tax technology expert, specialising in Oracle eBusiness Tax, Oracle Fusion Tax, and Vertex implementations across 50+ countries. She has extensive experience in indirect tax automation, system upgrades, and global tax compliance. She’s a true asset to our team.

“I love the complexity of tax – it challenges me every day! Being a woman in this field means showing the next generation that they can excel here, too.”

Senior Functional Consultant

Senior Marketing Executive

Rhiana Morris

Rhiana is the creative mind behind our brand and marketing, ensuring the world sees the value of our tax solutions.

“Never in a million years would I think working in the tax industry would be exciting, but this role has proven me wrong.  Marketing in tax is all about making complex things accessible and engaging. I love working in a space where I can combine creativity with strategy, and I hope more women feel empowered to step into both tax and tech.”

Despite progress, tax remains a male-dominated industry – with women making up just 38.5% of tax professionals compared to 47.87% in finance and accountancy (Harvey John).

That’s why representation matters.

At Innovate Tax, we are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where women can lead, thrive, and inspire the next generation. We’re proud to have such talented women shaping the future of tax and we’re excited to see even more women accelerate action in this space.

Happy International Women’s Day!
