Lizzie Widdicks heads up our Account Management division at Innovate Tax; working with our clients at every stage from the implementation of a tax solution through to the ongoing support and maintenance of their setup – and everything in between!
We recently caught up with Lizzie to ask her about her role, her experience, and what drives her to ensure she delivers the best possible service to every Innovate client.
Q: Hi Lizzie, tell us about your journey at Innovate…
I joined Innovate back in 2019 as an apprentice in our Monmouth office. I deferred my place at Cardiff University, where I planned to study psychology, as I was keen to experience a year in the workplace first.
However, I soon realised that I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to stay in the business much longer than that – and I’m still here seven years later!
During that time I’ve progressed from my initial apprentice role through various commercial positions – including leading our Alteryx offering to the market to an 18-month spell heading up our UAE team in Dubai – to become an Account Manager.
Not only have I benefited from the opportunity to perform various roles within the business, I’ve also enjoyed dozens of chances to travel the world with Innovate and to work with some of the biggest global brands of all. It’s been incredibly rewarding and a lot of fun.
Q: And what does your current role look like?
I head up our Account Management service, working with over 60 of our fully supported clients, as well as other global businesses as they undertake major tax and ERPEnterprise resource planning (ERP) is a type of software that organisations use to manage main business processes. projects with us.
With over seven years’ experience, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the challenges our clients face and how we can relieve those pains for them; not only in the short term, but also in the long run by building and implementing future-proofed, fully scalable solutions.
I specialise in leveraging Innovate’s global indirect tax solutions, built natively for Oracle ERP users, and configuring tax engines across SAP, Oracle, and other leading ERPs.
The implementation phase can be daunting for many businesses, but our proven project methodology typically allows us to implement new technology faster and more cost-effectively than other providers, meaning we form strong relationships with our clients from an early stage.
Q. What drives you to succeed as an Account Manager?
I’m focused on helping clients to simplify their indirect tax setup. For many businesses, that means implementing best-in-class solutions to deliver fast, accurate, global determination, as well as achieving optimum standards in reporting, compliance, and data management.
In more recent times, I’ve really enjoyed working with multiple businesses to prepare them to comply with the current wave of global e-invoicingElectronic invoicing - widely referred to as e-invoicing - is the exchange of a digital document between a supplier and a buyer. E-invoices are issued, transmitted and received in a structured data format that enabled automatic and electronic processing. They contain data in a machine-readable format so that an AP system can read an invoice without manual data entry, leading to faster and more efficient invoicing. mandates. Whether that’s by hosting readiness workshops, identifying the optimum solution to meet their needs, or implementing an industry-leading e-invoicing solution, I’ve led projects with a number of huge brands and helped to plot their path towards e-invoicing success.
I’m also a huge advocate for investing in quality support and maintenance of solutions once they have been installed.
At Innovate, we don’t leave our clients to work it out for themselves post-go live. Instead, we offer a comprehensive Support & Maintenance service that covers everything from rate changes to training, solution updates, and new tax codes.
Whatever the need of a client, I’m driven by a desire to provide a truly end-to-end service that helps companies to achieve their tax ambitions.
Q. What are you most looking forward to in 2026?
If you thought e-invoicing was a hot topic in 2025, wait until you see what 2026 has in store.
Dozens more countries across the world are set to mandate B2B e-invoicing this year, providing a huge challenge to those businesses that trade worldwide and must soon comply with new regulations.
I can’t wait to bring our e-invoicing offering to an even larger audience and to lead projects with more major businesses as they ready themselves for the next phase of mandates.
Q. And finally, what do you love to do outside of tax technology?
I live in London and love to enjoy everything the city has to offer; whether that’s socialising with friends, keeping fit in my local neighbourhood, or taking in the sights.
I’m also a keen traveller and have visited several countries – including Croatia and Italy – in the last 12 months.
