Pre-Watered Japanese Whisky!

In this month’s edition of ‘What’s the Tax?’ we’re taking a closer look at pre-watered whiskey tax! Yes, you read it right…watery whisky TAX!

One thing we all know for sure is that taxes are as certain as death, but they’ve changed a lot since this one – phew! Over many years, governments have applied some really creative taxes and according to National Geographic, this included facial hair, beds and broomsticks!

Independent shares with us our second bizarre tax! In an extract from the Independent website, it explains that the aim behind the diluted whisky was to face a lower tax rate reflective of the lower alcohol quantity.
